Adirondack Park

The Adirondack Park was created in 1892 and covers a large portion of Northeastern New York State. At 6 million acres, it is larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Great Smoky, and Everglades National Parks combined. The Forest Preserve in the Adirondack Park is the largest area of wilderness in the nation outside of Alaska and the remaining portion of the Adirondack Park is private property. The Adirondack Mountains of New York, and the majestic High Peaks peaking at 5344 ft, are a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and hikers. Hotel guests at the Sundowner frequently hike the Adirondack Park's large trail system, with stupendous destinations such as mountain summits, isolated waterfalls and forest glades. Hike, canoe, kayak, boat, swim, and fish our 3,000 lakes and ponds and over 1,500 miles of rivers.
